Models and Promotional FAQ

Jessica - Promotional and Photographic - Melbourne

Who are Lush Models and what do you do?

Lush Models is a model and talent agency for children, teenagers and Adults. We promote and supply children, teenagers and Adults to reputable clients for photographic advertising, television commercials, television series, films, magazines, promotional jobs and fashion catalogues.

Our team acts as a liaison between the client and the child/teenager/adult model or ‘talent’. In a typical scenario, the client will provide us with specific requirements. We then submit a selection of talent for the client to choose from. We use portfolios on our website www.lushmodel.com.au for anyone over the age of 16 and we use ecaster for all our child actors. We also have the option to display one image of your child on our website www.lushmodels.com.au if you consent to this.

Once the client has made their decision, we arrange for the model’s attendance on location and give the parent or carer specific information related to the job – for example, details on what to wear, hair and make-up, script etc.

What type of work can I look forward to?

Lush Models supplies talent for fashion catalogue work, product campaigns, television commercials, television series, promotional work and film.

    Am I guaranteed work?

We’d love to say yes, but unfortunately Lush Models cannot guarantee work for any child, teenager or Adult we represent. The modelling industry is very competitive and we do not have any influence in the selection process – that’s up to our clients. However, we do try hard to select talent who are most likely to get work – based on their looks and personality. But ultimately it is the client who decides which talent gets the job.

How do I know you’re a reputable agency?

Have a look through my website and you will see the variety of staff I have. You can see the different brands that we have represented through the various photos displayed on the site and you can have a read through the testimonials page. Lush Models has been running for 6 years and I have 4 years experience in the field prior to that. Ask around, do your homework - you will always get an honest answer form me.

    What ages do you represent?

We represent children from six months old to teenagers of sixteen years in our Child Modelling section and we represent Models from 17 years + in our Adult section

How many Models are on your books?

Ideally, we aim to have around 200 - 300 Talent on our books in each state office at any time, however we currently have around 200 in QLD, 100 in NSW and 100 in VICT . We also have a small selection of talent spread in other smaller locations throughout Australia. We strive to keep a balanced mix of talent which helps us supply our clients with a diverse range of looks, skills, age and ethnic backgrounds.

Do you accept everyone who applies?

Unlike some agencies, we don’t accept every applicant. In order to represent each child/teenager or Adult responsibly and honestly we only accept talent who we believe have a reasonably good chance of being the type of talent that casting consultants and our clients will be looking for.

    How do I join?

If you are a Child or Teenager please email me (lushmodels@mac.ocm) for a form to complete. We will also require a Headshot and Body shot upon submission.
If you are an Adult - please complete the online registration portfolio by clicking on the link in the top left hand corner of the page. Then send an email to lushmodels@mac.com with your resume and any additional photographs you want to submit. For Adult models we only accept Professional Photos.

How much does it cost to join Lush Models?

We do not charge a fee to join Lush Models. However we do charge the following fees if you are interested in being represented in the Acting Industry or require a Photoshoot for Qld Talent only.

   * Marketing materials produced by the agency to promote your child. - FREE
    * Registration of your child’s details on an Internet casting facility. - $6.00 per month with 12 months being paid upfront ($66.00) This is specific for Tv, Film and Extras work.
* Composite cards (calling cards containing your photo and details that are given to the client after a casting). - $45.00 for 10 cards
    * Administration duties - FREE

If I am not happy, can I get a refund?

No - once money is paid for any of the above it is used for those services and can not be refunded.

How do I get paid and what commission do you charge?

After a job is completed, Lush Models will invoice the client and receive payment (usually within 30 to 60 days) on your behalf. We charge a separate fee for our services and will pay you the Full negotiated rate made prior to job commencement. In the case of Tv and Film work we deduct 20% off the total amount negotiated to you prior to commencement of work.

How will you promote me?

Upon joining Lush Models your details are placed on the Internet Casting Facility (if paid for)and a portfolio is set up on lushmodel.com.au for Adults and lushmodels.com.au will contain one image. We also have a private portfolio for Child Models and Actors which is not viewable by the public for privacy reasons. This is used only to show clients the talent we have available.

The Internet Casting Facility is a secure password-protected photo library that our clients use to search for the right child. It was developed by an independent company and has strict security protocols. No-one other than our clients has access to this facility. Approved clients can access it free of charge.

    How do children/teenagers/adults get work?

Our clients seek ‘talent’ either by phoning us directly or by sending us a ‘brief’ outlining their requirements. The brief details the type of job, the type of talent required and what special abilities may be necessary.

We will submit talent who match these requirements for the client’s consideration. The client then invites their choices to a casting (or audition) where they speak to each talent and perhaps have a test run in front of the camera. For Promotional and some Photographic work - talent can be selected from Photos and Portfolios only. This is the case when it comes to Most Promotional jobs.

Sometimes jobs and castings are arranged at short notice - perhaps on the same or following day. Most jobs are scheduled during normal work hours so you have to be clear about this and - within reason - committed to attending at short notice. Generally, castings are after school or work hours.

Can my Child or I be a member of more than one agency?

YES - I do not think that it is fair to limit an actor or Model to one agency, I believe that the more you advertise yourself the more opportunity for work is out there.

What’s your advice for selecting a good agency?

We strongly recommend that you do your homework first. Check out what the agency has to offer, their associated costs, their clients, and how many children they currently represent. And remember, no agent can guarantee work so be careful if they do!

Can I ring the agency to check on how things are going?

Because of the number of Talent we have, I would spend most of my time on the phone, so we ask that you send an email every 6 weeks to either update photos for child models and for Adults and Teenagers just to check in. But please understand that work will be emailed to you once it comes in. We try to make sure everyone gets work but at the end of the day it is up to the clients to choose their staff.
